Fire protection system for Germany's first LNG terminal
Holzhauer-Pumpen is responsible for the engineering, manufacture, delivery, installation and maintenance of stationary fire protection systems.
Requirements
Germany’s first FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) is being built in Wilhelmshaven with a capacity of up to 7.5 billion m³ per year, which will cover around 8.5 percent of Germany’s gas requirements in future. Its core facility is a special ship, the “Esperanza”, which is moored near a port and enables LNG to be landed, stored and regasified. Seawater is used as the basis for heating the LNG. The regasified gas is then pumped from the FSRU via a short connecting pipeline to the port facilities and from there fed into the gas pipeline network.
Holzhauer-Pumpen is responsible for the engineering, manufacture, delivery, installation and maintenance of stationary fire protection systems.
Solution
Planning, design, delivery, installation and commissioning of a new turnkey fire water pumping station with control room connection. The complete electrical equipment, heating, lighting as well as coarse screen and duplex filter systems for the water supply were implemented in accordance with the applicable NFPA-20 regulations.
The finished pumping station is powered by two redundant 500 hp fire pump units with exhaust gas purification systems. The extinguishing water is pumped by two seawater-resistant, 16-meter-long vertical turbine pumps that are protected from waves and ice. The pumps have a capacity of 13,234 liters per minute, i.e. over one bathtub per second each.
The complete pumping station is explosion-proof for an overpressure of 100 mbar (from the outside). The external cladding of the prefabricated pumping station is fire-resistant to F 90.
Manufactured and tested by Holzhauer-Pumpen, our prefabricated fire pump station is delivered to the customer ready for operation and connection.
